Japanese Green Tea (Sencha)
Japanese Green Tea (Sencha) is one of the green teas.
It is also one of the most commonly drunk teas in Japan. In the narrow sense of the term, Sencha is green tea grown without sunlight, made from new shoots and dried by rubbing the tea leaves in several stages.
In the broad sense, 'sencha' refers to 'senjicha', which is made by steeping tea leaves in hot water to extract the ingredients, as opposed to 'matcha', which is made by drying the tea leaves without rubbing them to a powder.
