Hojicha is a type of Japanese green tea, a drink made by roasting tea leaves.
It is generally made by roasting sencha, bancha, or stem tea. Hojicha has a distinctive aroma, little bitterness or astringency, and is light on the palate.
It is low in caffeine, mildly stimulating, and easy on the stomach, making it suitable for use as a tea during meals.
Outside of Japan, hojicha lattes are showing signs of a boom, coming in second after matcha lattes, and are a must-try tea.
